Description Learn the basics of free-motion machine quilting on practice sandwiches in this intensive one-day class. Once you get comfortable and find your groove, you’ll be able to tackle your real projects with confidence. Class Outline Beginner to Intermediate Level Part 1: Learn a variety of free motion techniques using the walking foot. Part 2: Drop your feed dogs and begin to free motion quilt on your domestic sewing machine. Part 3: Progress to using rulers to create unique designs. Supply List Fabric: 6 – 8 quilt sandwiches (14″ x 20″ or larger, with batting and backing – we recommend solid, light coloured backing). Do not use 100% polyester batting, since it is too slippery! Please come with your quilt sandwiches ready for the class – (use curved pins, baste, or 505 spray to keep sandwiches together) Sewing machine in good working condition, with all accessories, manual, power cord, and foot control. Extension table for your machine, if you have one. LED light for your sewing machine, if you have one. 1/4” Free motion foot/darning (walking) foot to fit your machine. Note: Sewing machine needs to be able to drop feed dogs. Supreme Slider- free motion slider helps to eliminate quilt drag. New Topstitch 90/14 needle. 50-wt 100% cotton thread Choose a colour to contrast with your quilt sandwich so that you’ll be able to see your stitches. Please wind at least two bobbins with your thread. Masking tape, Chalk pencil or Frixion Marker Grip It quilting gloves, helps to maneuver fabric when free motion quilting.
