Description If you’ve always wanted to sew, but don’t know if you could do it- guess what?!? You can! This class will walk you through it……piece by piece. Anyone can learn to do this, even you! This instructor led class will take you through building confidence on your sewing machine, teach you about fabric, how to cut, iron and sew. By the end of this course, you will know the basics and will have completed a tote bag! You will learn: setting up your machine including threading and bobbin winding how to set your stitch selection how to accurately cut and iron fabric sewing straight seams and perfect corners neat finishing like hems and seam finishes Sewing Level: Intro. Our Intro to Sewing classes teach you the basics of using a sewing machine and simple sewing and cutting techniques. Instructor: Rita Buckle Includes: Free tote bag panel Photo is representative of the type of tote that will be created however class tote bags may differ from photos shown Items to Bring With You Sewing machine in good working order with manual, presser feet, attachments, and foot controller. Spare Sewing Machine Needles – (Just in case) We use Microtex (Sharp) 80/12 or Quilting 75/11 or needles of your choice. Rotary blade cutter – We use the 45mm. These are sharp, so the preferred one has an ergonomic handle. The blade retracts when you are not using it. Acrylic Cutting Ruler Thread and pins or clips Seam ripper (just in case) Small scissors or thread snips Notebook and pen Lunch Irons and ironing boards as well as cutting mats will be available at class location.
